The History of Parker Farms begins back in 1945. After returning home from WWII Wilford and Gladys Parker purchased land and began farming in Porter county, Indiana. The farm increased to 360 acres and 7 children. The farm was a traditional midwest farm raising corn, soybeans, wheat, and beef cattle.
In 1974 Harold Parker graduated from Ball State University. He then joined the farming operation. In 1979 Harold and his wife Jane expanded the farming operation to La Porte county, Indiana.
In 2001 Tom Parker graduated from Purdue University. He has since taken over the day to day operations of the family farming operation, and is actively pursuing ways to add additional value to the family farm.
Parker Farms still farms the land that Wilford and Gladys purchased, and have expanded their operation in both La Porte and Porter counties. The farm continues to produce corn and soybeans, although many changes have taken place over the years to stay current with new technologies. The farm also devotes a lot of its resources to growing seed corn and tomatoes and it is looking for other crops that will fit well into our operation.
